A Moravia man has been arrested for allegedly failing to update his address as required under New York State’s sex offender registry laws.
Sheriff Brian Schenck says 52-year-old John McNamara was taken into custody on September 12 following an investigation that revealed he was no longer living at his registered address in Moravia. Deputies determined McNamara had instead been living in Auburn.
He was charged with failure to report a change of address within 10 days — a felony under state correction law.
McNamara was processed at the Cayuga County Public Safety Building and later remanded to the county jail following arraignment at CAP Court. He is scheduled to appear in Sennett Town Court on September
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
