A St. Lawrence County woman is facing charges following a February 29 incident in Cayuga County.
According to the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office, deputies arrived at Lake Road in the Town of Genoa during the early morning hours of February 29 for the report of a car having crashed into a ditch. Witnesses told deputies that the operator, later identified as 34-year-old Bobbilea Skinner of Massena, had fled the scene on foot.
Deputies also learned that the car had been stolen from the Town of Mentz.
While continuing their investigation, deputies were notified by Cayuga County 911 that a homeowner just north of the crash site on Lake Rd had her home entered into and her car stolen from the driveway. It was learned that Skinner had entered the home following the crash, took the vehicle’s key, and fled in the second vehicle.
On March 1, the sheriff’s office was contacted by police in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania, and informed that the stolen vehicle and Skinner had been found. She was being held in Pennsylvania on local charges.
Skinner was turned over to the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office on July 24 and charged with felony counts of Burglary and Grand Larceny along with misdemeanor counts of Petit Larceny and Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle.
During arraignment, the District Attorney’s Office requested bail; however, Skinner was released. Due to additional charges in New York, she was turned over to another law enforcement agency.
