A Town of Marion man was arrested following a one-vehicle motor vehicle crash in Palmyra.
Deputies arrested 33-year-old Tyler Hand on charges including driving while intoxicated, aggravated DWI, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the third degree, failure to keep right, and leaving the scene of a property damage accident.
Investigators said deputies responding to the crash detected the odor of alcohol on Hand and observed bloodshot, glassy eyes. Hand was administered standardized field sobriety tests and was subsequently taken into custody. Authorities said Hand later submitted to a chemical breath test, which showed a blood alcohol content of 0.20 percent.
Hand was transported to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office for processing and was later released with appearance tickets. He is scheduled to appear in Palmyra Town Court at a later date.
The charges are accusations, and Hand is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
