Man Wanted for Robbery in Pennsylvania Arrested in Auburn

A man wanted for robbery in Pennsylvania was arrested in Auburn early Wednesday morning.

Police responded to the Holiday Inn just after midnight for a 911 hangup call. Officers met with Greg Brown, who was in the lobby asking for assistance.  He claimed to have no identification when asked by responding officers. After being told he could leave, Brown walked to the Speedway gas station on North Street.

During their conversation at the Holiday Inn, Brown gave police a false date of birth. Officers later verified Brown’s true identity and learned he was a fugitive from justice. After receiving word from the jurisdiction where Brown was wanted that they were willing to extradite because of the seriousness of the charge, police went to the Speedway and advised him he was under arrest. According to police, Brown became tense and resisted arrest. After a brief struggle, Brown was placed into custody and transported to the Auburn Police Department for processing. While at police headquarters, Brown allegedly remained uncooperative where he refused to be fingerprinted and photographed.

Brown was transported to the Cayuga County Jail where he was being held pending arraignment in Cayuga County Court.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
