An arrest has been made following the investigation of a vehicle that was stolen in the village of Penn Yan.
On January 22nd, Dale Sutton allegedly stole a car that was parked at a Penn Yan business. The vehicle was later found abandoned with heavy front-end damage on Bath Road in the town of Barrington. Penn Yan Police executed multiple search warrants for cell phone tower data and worked with several law enforcement agencies to determine the identity of Sutton.
The 49-year-old Bath man was charged with grand larceny and criminal tampering. Sutton remains in the Steuben County Jail on unrelated felony charges.
Penn Yan Police were assisted by the New York State Police, the New York State Intelligence Center, the Schuyler County Sheriff’s Office, the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office, and the Yates County Sheriff’s Office.
