One man has been arrested after crashing his pickup truck into a pond Saturday night in Cayuga County.
According to the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the Fingerlakes Mall just before 11:00p where they found a Ford F250 had crashed into the pond in front of Bass Pro Shops and was sinking into the pond.
The driver, Thomas Hurst of Auburn, was able to exit the vehicle uninjured.
During their investigation, deputies determined Hurst had been driving while under the influence of alcohol. He was charged with a felony DWI due to a previous DWI-related conviction in the previous ten years. He was also issued citations for vehicle and traffic law violations.
Hurst was arraigned and released to appear in Aurelius Town Court at a later date and time to answer the charges against him.
