A Town of Arcadia man has been charged following a mailbox theft investigation, according to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said 66-year-old James P. Burm was arrested around 5 p.m. Dec. 18 at his home on Budd Road in the Town of Arcadia. The arrest stems from an incident reported Nov. 2 on Clark Road, where investigators determined Burm took a mailbox without the owner’s permission and discarded it.
Burm was charged with one count of third-degree criminal tampering. He was held for centralized arraignment processing and is scheduled to appear in Arcadia Town Court at a later date.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation; the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
