The investigation of a motor vehicle accident that happened on Quaker Road in the town of Macedon resulted in the arrest of a Macedon resident.
According to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, Chad Wellott was driving west when he allegedly failed to maintain his lane, swerved across the center lane, and rolled his car into a yard. During the investigation, police say numerous indicators were present on-scene for Wellott being intoxicated while driving. Due to injuries, the 52-year-old submitted to a blood draw with the results showing a .097% BAC.
Wellott was charged with DWI, DWI with a BAC of .08% or higher, aggravated unlicensed operator, and unlicensed operator.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
