SHARE NOW

A Lyons woman who is wanted as a fugitive from justice was arrested by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office following a traffic stop.

Emily Oakes was pulled over Friday night for allegedly driving a car on Route 31 in the town of Lyons that had inadequate license plate lamps. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that Oakes had an active warrant out of the State of New Jersey.

Oakes was apprehended with the assistance of the New York State Police and was taken to the Wayne County Jail to await arraignment.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
