A Lyons couple was arrested over the weekend following an incident that allegedly involved a knife.
It is alleged that Monica Williams assaulted another person with a knife while attempting to assault another person. She was charged with two counts of assault, menacing, and criminal possession of a weapon.
When deputies responded and attempted to conduct an official investigation, Leon Williams allegedly refused to comply with lawful orders and fought with officers. Leon Williams was charged with obstructing governmental administration, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct.
Leon Williams was released on an appearance ticket and Monica Williams was sent to Wayne County Jail following arraignment.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
