A 19-year-old Lyons man who crashed his car after fleeing from police on State Route 104 last Friday morning faces a number of charges.
Deputies attempted to pull Joseph Shaffer over for speeding but he continued driving south on Route 14 before he went off the road and crashed in the town of Lyons. Shaffer has been charged with two counts each of speeding, operating a motor vehicle without using headlights while windshield wipers were required, unsafe lane change, failure to keep right, reckless driving, and failure to yield the right of way. He was also charged with single counts of unlawfully fleeing a police officer.
Shaffer will appear in Sodus Town Court and Lyons Town Court to answer the charges.
