A Town of Lyons man is facing charges following a welfare fraud investigation in Wayne County.
The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office says deputies arrested 42-year-old David Jones Jr. after an investigation into the alleged misuse of food stamp benefits.
Authorities say the case began with the Wayne County Department of Social Services, and investigators determined Jones allowed another person to use his Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, EBT card to buy food without authorization.
Jones was charged with misuse of food stamps and petit larceny.
He was taken to the Wayne County Jail for processing and later released with an appearance ticket.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
