A Lyons man has been arrested on burglary charges.
According to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, Merle Adams was arrested Saturday afternoon following the call of a burglary in progress on Montezuma Street. It is alleged that the 50-year-old was spotted stealing a window from inside of an apartment building that was being renovated. Adams was then found by deputies at a friend’s house shortly after the crime with said property.
Adams is charged with burglary, criminal possession of stolen property, and petit larceny.
Adams was released on an appearance ticket and will appear in Lyons Town Court at a later date.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
