A Lyons man is in police custody after he allegedly held a woman against her will at a home on East Maple Avenue Monday night into Tuesday morning.
Jamaal Moody is accused of hitting the woman multiple times and stealing her phone and keys. The 33-year-old is also accused of choking the victim multiple times and preventing her from leaving the home despite her attempts to flee. Moody is also accused of using a knife in the commission of his crimes to threaten the woman, further preventing her from leaving the residence. Moody was taken into custody without incident after he had barricaded himself inside of the home, ignoring police on scene.
Moody is charged with menacing, assault, strangulation, aggravated contempt of court, grand larceny, unlawful imprisonment, criminal possession of a weapon, and aggravated family offense.
Moody was taken to the Wayne County Jail where he was held pending CAP arraignment with a recommendation from the Wayne County District Attorney’s Office of no bail.
