Cayuga County deputies arrested a 56-year-old Locke man last week on a felony weapons charge.
Theodore Strauf was taken into custody Jan. 22 following a traffic stop by Cortland County deputies. Strauf was wanted on a Criminal Possession of a Weapon, 4th-degree charge as a convicted felon, stemming from an incident on Nov. 14, 2025, when deputies responded to a report of a man with a gun in Locke.
Investigators say Strauf had a firearm at the time of the earlier incident. The weapons were secured, and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Strauf was arraigned at Centralized Arraignment and released on his own recognizance. He is scheduled to appear in Locke Town Court on February 4 at 7 p.m.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
