Penn Yan Police arrested a Lakewood man following a traffic stop on Elm Street.
Officers say 20-year-old Lucas Gilbert was observed driving 50 miles per hour in a 30 mph zone. Upon approaching the vehicle, officers noted signs of intoxication. Gilbert failed a series of field sobriety tests and was taken to the Yates County Public Safety Building, where a chemical test revealed a blood alcohol content of .21%.
Gilbert was charged with DWI, aggravated DWI, DWI with a BAC of .08% or greater, speeding in a zone, possession of a fake license, and consumption of alcohol in a vehicle. He was issued tickets to appear in Village Court at a later date.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
