A reported domestic dispute in the Town of Locke escalated into a frightening confrontation involving multiple weapons, leading to the arrest of a local man.
Cayuga County Sheriff Brian Schenck says deputies arrested 22-year-old James Roundy on charges of criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree and menacing in the third degree. Deputies responded to a home on Wednesday at approximately 11:30 a.m. along with a unit from the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators say Roundy pushed a female victim off a bed, then stood over her holding a knife while threatening to kill her. Deputies say he later picked up a sword and damaged several items inside the home.
Roundy was taken to the Cayuga County Public Safety Building for processing and later transported to the Cayuga County Jail for centralized arraignment.
The investigation remains ongoing.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
