Jamaican Man in U.S. on Work Visa Accused of Raping Minor in Cayuga Co.

The Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a man accused of sexually abusing an adolescent in the town of Ledyard.

Sheriff Brian Schenck said deputies began investigating on September 26 after receiving a report of a sex offense involving Romar Ramando Stone, a Jamaican citizen in the U.S. on a temporary work visa. Investigators with the Criminal Investigations Division, assisted by the Cayuga County Child Advocacy Center, determined the extent of the abuse before locating Stone in the village of Aurora.

He was taken into custody and charged with third-degree rape and endangering the welfare of a child. Stone was arraigned in CAP Court and remanded to the Cayuga County Jail on $50,000 cash bail or $100,000 bond.

A federal immigration detainer has also been lodged against him.
