An Ithaca man with 20 warrants out for his arrest was arrested after being spotted by police at the Apple Festival in Tompkins County.
After a uniformed Itahca Police Officer approached the 39-year-old to advise him of his warrants, Jessiah Jones became non-compliant. He then resisted arrest as police attempted to take him into custody.
Eventually, Jones was charged with resisting arrest, criminal mischief, and reckless damage to another person’s property. He was also arrested on 13 warrants for trespassing, five warrants for petit larceny, and a single warrant for harassment and criminal possession of a controlled substance.
At last word, Jones was being held at the Tompkins County Jail for arraignment
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
