Police say an Ithaca man took off on them as they attempted to arrest him on felony warrants charging him with criminal possession of a weapon.
After fleeing in his car, 45-year-old Ruben Flowers failed to pull over for Ithaca Police as they attempted to conduct a traffic stop. Flowers eventually abandoned his car outside of a residential complex on Floral Avenue, where he was taken into custody.
In addition to the outstanding warrants, Flowers was charged with unlawful fleeing a police officer, resisting arrest, reckless driving, and other undisclosed vehicle and traffic violations. Flowers was sent to jail to await arraignment.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
