Ithaca police are investigating a deadly stabbing that occurred Thursday night on the city’s west side.
Officers responded to a 911 call around 8:30 p.m. and found an adult male suffering from stab wounds. Bystanders were assisting the victim when officers arrived.
Emergency crews from Bangs Ambulance provided treatment at the scene before airlifting the man to a regional trauma center. Despite efforts to save him, he later died from his injuries.
The victim has been identified as 54-year-old Edward Warren of Ithaca.
The Ithaca Police Department is being assisted in the investigation by the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation, as well as the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office, Bangs Ambulance, and the Ithaca Fire Department.
The case remains an active homicide investigation.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
