When officers arrived on the scene, the suspect, Takiem Foat, had left. A short time later, police spotted Foat drive by and they attempted a traffic stop but he fled. Foat was eventually taken into custody after he drove his car through a fence between First and North Meadow streets.

Foat was charged with felony attempted burglary, along with misdemeanor charges of criminal mischief, unlawful fleeing of a police officer, menacing, obstructing governmental administration, two counts of reckless driving, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, and numerous traffic violations. Additional charges are pending.

The Cornell University Police Department, the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office, the Ithaca Fire Department, and Bangs Ambulance assisted with this incident.
