An Ithaca man was arrested for allegedly striking another person with a handgun several times.
Andre Hayes was charged with felony assault for the late Tuesday night incident that happened at the West End Heights Apartment Complex in the city of Ithaca. After a search warrant was executed at Hayes’ apartment, police say they recovered a handgun, the victim’s phone, and drugs.
Additional felony charges against Hayes are pending.
The 54-year-old was sent to Tompkins County Jail following his arraignment.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
