One man is under arrest for a shooting that happened in the city of Ithaca Friday afternoon.
40-year-old Tarrant Sheppard was arrested hours after police located a victim with a gunshot wound in the 300 block of West Buffalo Street. The victim was taken to an undisclosed regional trauma center with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police do not believe the shooting was a random act of violence.
Sheppard was charged with criminal possession of a weapon and attempted assault, both felonies, and is being held at the Tompkins County Jail without bail.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
