A Cayuga County man has been arrested for alleged felony sexual abuse.
According to the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a location in the Town of Ira just before 3:00a Monday for a sex assault investigation where it is alleged 57-year-old Thomas Crittenden of Ira engaged in sexual contact with another individual without their consent.
Crittenden was arrested on one count of felony Sex Abuse and taken to the county’s public safety building for processing. He was then arraigned and released on $2,500 cash bail. He is scheduled to appear in Ira Town Court on Friday at noon.
The sheriff’s office added that this is an ongoing investigation and no further details will be released at this time. Those with information regarding the alleged incident are asked to contact the sheriff’s office at 315-253-1222, online, or via the SaferWatch app.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
