The investigation into a reported assault in Ontario County early Tuesday morning resulted in the arrest of a Hopewell man.
Police were called to Campus Gate in Hopewell after Carlos Diazcanales allegedly assaulted a woman during a domestic dispute. The woman suffered minor, non-life-threatening injuries. The investigation revealed that a young child was present during the altercation but was not injured. Shortly after the 911 call, deputies apprehended the 19-year-old and took him into custody.
Diazcanales has been charged with assault, endangering the welfare of a child, and criminal obstruction of breathing.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
