Geneva Sex Offender Accused of Not Registering New Address

SHARE NOW

Geneva Police have arrested a local man who allegedly failed to register his address as a sex offender.

39-year-old Joseph Shantz, of Geneva, is accused of abandoning his residence on Rose Street in the city of Geneva in August of 2024, failing to register his new residency with any local law enforcement agency or with the New York State Department of Criminal Justice Services.

Shantz, who was already in custody at the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office for an unrelated arrest, was processed on a felony charge of failure to register or verify an address, and held for Centralized Arraignment Court.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
