A Geneva man is facing drug charges in Cayuga County.
On February 9th, a Cayuga County Sheriff’s Deputy was on patrol in the village of Weedsport when they observed a car operating on the road without a front New York State license plate. A traffic stop was initiated and the driver and sole occupant was identified as 40-year-old Michael Costello.
During the course of the traffic stop, a search of Costello and the car was conducted. As a result, there was allegedly a quantity of Methylphenidate Pills, a Schedule II Controlled Substance) found that Costello did not have a prescription for, as well as a scale commonly used for weighing illegal substances.
Costello was taken into custody and brought to the Public Safety Building where he was processed and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, and criminally using drug paraphernalia, both misdemeanors, along with traffic tickets.
Costello was released on an appearance ticket for Village of Weedsport Court.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
