Geneva Man Charged with Petit Larceny After Cellphone Theft

SHARE NOW

A Geneva man has been charged in connection with the theft of a cellphone from a Walmart shopping cart in the Town of Hopewell.

The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office reports that 31-year-old Samuel E. Vazquez was arrested Saturday afternoon following an investigation into a larceny reported five days earlier.

Deputies say Vazquez is accused of removing a victim’s cellphone from their cart while inside the Walmart store on July 14. He has been charged with petit larceny, a misdemeanor.

Vazquez was issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in Hopewell Town Court at a later date to answer the charge.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
