A 28-year-old man was arrested early Tuesday in connection with a burglary at a local convenience store.
Geneva police say Edwin Irizarry-Sprague, who is homeless, was taken into custody after officers investigated a report of a broken front window at the Geneva Convenience and Smoke Shop around 4:06 a.m. Tuesday.
Authorities say an investigation, assisted by an Ontario County Sheriff’s Office K-9 unit, led officers to the Americas Best Value Inn, where Irizarry-Sprague was located along with stolen merchandise.
He was charged with third-degree burglary and second-degree criminal mischief.
Irizarry-Sprague was transported to the Ontario County Jail, where he is being held pending a CAP Court appearance.
The burglary remains under investigation.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
