A Geneva man has been charged after deputies say he stole a designer bag and other belongings from a guest at a local hotel.
The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office says 44-year-old Douglas Dawkins was taken into custody around 8 p.m. Thursday following a larceny investigation at the Microtel on Routes 5 and 20. Investigators say Dawkins stole a Louis Vuitton bag and several items inside it, with the total value exceeding $3,700.
He was charged with third-degree grand larceny and taken to the Ontario County Jail to await arraignment.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
