A man who resigned from his job as a middle school principal in a Southern Tier school district last year has been arrested by State Police for allegedly raping a 14-year-old in Steuben County.
According to State Police, Daniel Erickson, of Greene in Chenango County, is charged with felony second-degree rape after he allegedly met up with the underage victim in October of 2022.
The 55-year-old Johnson resigned from his job at Johnson City Middle School in Broome County after he admitted to using Snapchat to lure a teenage girl to a remote area to have sex with her while pretending to be a student. The Broome County Sheriff’s Office detailed that Erickson brought a Grimace Shake and chicken nuggets from McDonald’s as well as condoms with him. Last July, he was sentenced to six months in jail.
State Police said their investigation into the Bath incident began at the end of February after receiving a referral from the New York State Department of Social Services child abuse hotline.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
