A former Macy’s employee has been arrested following an investigation into fraudulent return transactions at the store’s Town of Victor location.
Police say Robert Mahar was taken into custody on Sunday after the store reported an internal complaint. Investigators allege that while working at Macy’s, Mahar selected merchandise and processed returns for the items without ever paying for them. Authorities say this happened on six separate occasions, resulting in a loss of $815.03 for the store.
Mahar has been charged with Falsifying Business Records in the First Degree and Petit Larceny.
He is scheduled to appear in Town of Victor Court at a later date to answer the charges.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
