A 32-year-old woman previously from Auburn was arrested on a welfare fraud warrant after turning herself in to authorities in Cayuga County, the sheriff’s office announced Wednesday.

32-year-old Ricketta Taylor of Philadelphia was arrested Dec. 9 on an outstanding welfare fraud warrant issued out of Auburn City Court, according to Cayuga County Sheriff Brian Schenck.

Sheriff’s deputies said Taylor reported to the Public Safety Building, where she was taken into custody. She was later arraigned at the centralized arraignment court inside the Cayuga County Jail and released on her own recognizance.

The case was investigated by the Cayuga County Department of Social Services Case Integrity Unit, the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division and the Cayuga County District Attorney’s Office.

Anyone with information related to the case is encouraged to contact the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office at 315-253-1222. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through the SaferWatch app or the county’s online tip system.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
