Fake 911 Calls Turn Into Real Pursuit in Yates County

SHARE NOW

A Yates County woman, who has been arrested three times already this year for allegedly calling 911 repeatedly to report incidents that were proven to be false by law enforcement, is facing new charges after leading police on a pursuit Tuesday morning.

Deputies attempted to execute an arrest warrant at Laura Dicampli’s home on Italy Valley Road in Naples on charges that she called the Yates County 911 Emergency Center 13 times between March 10th and last Sunday to report an emergency that was investigated and determined to be false. Police located Dicampli driving on Italy Valley Road and after a brief pursuit and 20 minutes standoff, she was taken into custody. The 37-year-old was charged with failure to comply, aggravated harassment, and 13 counts of falsely reporting an incident.

Last month, Dicampli was taken into custody after a warrant was issued for her arrest after she allegedly called 911 for no legitimate purpose numerous times a day and made threats of physical harm to Sheriff’s Deputies and their families. Similar phone calls Dicampli made requesting assistance for what eventually were false emergencies were made on January 3rd and January 8th.

Following her arrest on Tuesday, Dicampli was brought to the Yates County Jail to await arraignment.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
