A Cortland woman is facing charges after State Police say she falsified records and stole money while working at Sherwin-Williams locations in Cortland and Ithaca.
On July 28, troopers from the Homer barracks arrested 31-year-old Hailey Sweeney on two misdemeanor charges: Falsifying Business Records and Petit Larceny.
The investigation began after Sherwin-Williams’ loss prevention staff reported discrepancies in several transactions. Officials say Sweeney made fraudulent returns and took cash between April and July, resulting in a loss of more than $890.
Sweeney was issued appearance tickets for Ithaca City Court on September 5 and Cortlandville Town Court on September 8 to answer the charges.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
