Two people are in trouble after illegally picking cattails from the Lakeshore Marshes Management Area in Wayne County.
According to the Department of Environmental Conservation, a 63-year old from Sodus and a 32-year old from Lyons were observed on Wednesday taking the cattail without a permit.
The plant’s leaves are used for wooden barrel caulking and can be sold for money.
The pair were issued tickets for the illegal cattail harvest.
