The Yates County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of 67-year-old Betsy Heffernan of Dundee following an incident at the Dollar General in the Village of Dundee last Thursday.
Deputies say Heffernan, who had been previously trespassed from the store earlier this year, was caught placing merchandise into her purse without paying. She was charged with trespass and petit larceny and released on appearance tickets.
Heffernan is scheduled to appear in the Town of Starkey Court at a later date.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
