The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a two-car crash that happened at the intersection of Knickerbocker Road and Kenyon Road in the Town of Ontario.
Deputies say the collision occurred when a vehicle traveling east on Kenyon Road was unable to stop at the posted stop sign due to snowy and icy road conditions. Investigators determined the driver was traveling too fast for the weather, causing the vehicle to slide through the intersection and strike a northbound vehicle on Knickerbocker Road.
One driver was taken to Rochester General Hospital with what authorities described as minor injuries.
The driver deemed at fault was issued traffic citations for speed not reasonable and prudent for conditions and failure to stop at a stop sign.
(The names of the drivers involved were not released by the Sheriff’s Office)
Wayne County ALS, Ontario Town Ambulance, and the Ontario Fire Department assisted deputies at the scene.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
