Three people were hospitalized Friday after the car they were in collided with the back of a tractor-trailer in Wayne County. Police say the driver of the tractor-trailer had turned onto State Route 414 from Anslee Road in the town of Galen when he was struck from behind by a four-door sedan. The car sustained heavy front-end damage and was stuck underneath the bumper of the tractor-trailer.
The driver of the car, Joseph Uglialoro complained of chest pain while his two passengers suffered head, leg, and chest injuries. Two of the three were taken to Strong by ambulance and the third was airlifted by Mercy Flight to Rochester. The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured.
Uglialoro was ticketed for following too closely and speeding. He will appear in Galen Town Court at a later date to answer the charges.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
