An accident investigation in Wayne County resulted in the driver being charged by the Sheriff’s Department.
Deputies determined the driver of the car, Melvin Vandyke, left the road and struck a utility pole before coming to a stop in the front yard of a residence on the east side of State Route 414 in the town of Rose. Vandyke was taken to Newark Wayne Community Hospital for minor injuries.
Vandyke was ticketed for driving a motor vehicle with a suspended license.
The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Wayne County Ambulance and EMTs, North Rose and Clyde Fire departments.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
