A Covert man is facing charges following an altercation in the Town of Romulus.
The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports that 59-year-old John Grunder was arrested Thursday evening for unlawful imprisonment in the second degree, a Class A misdemeanor, and second-degree harassment, a violation.
Deputies say the charges stem from an incident in which Grunder allegedly grabbed a male victim, restricting his movement and attempting to start a fight. Investigators say Grunder then forced the victim into a ditch and used his body weight and forearm to hold the person down.
Grunder was taken into custody following the incident. The Sheriff’s Office did not release additional details about the victim or what led up to the confrontation.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
