A convicted sex offender is facing several charges of allegedly soliciting minors while being held at the jail.
According to the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office Brien Fredendall was arrested on three counts of Criminal Contempt, two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, and one count of Criminal Solicitation on Wednesday. He is accused of soliciting minors to engage in criminal activity and contacting parties protected by a full stay-away order of protection while incarcerated.
The 45-year-old Mentz man was arraigned at Centralized Arraignment Court and remains in jail.
Frendendall was arrested last August for allegedly sharing explicit online content with a minor and for failing to report internet accounts to the NYS Department of Criminal Justice as is required of registered sex offenders.
