Ontario County Sheriff’s deputies say a Canandaigua woman is facing multiple drug and traffic charges following an incident early Thursday morning.
Deputies were called to the Byrne Dairy on County Road 50 around 2:15 a.m. for a welfare check. They found 40-year-old Kathleen Ayers asleep in the driver’s seat of a vehicle and engaged in what officials described as a lewd act.
Deputies say Ayers was in possession of a large quantity of suspected cocaine and crack cocaine, along with two other controlled substances. She was also found to have a suspended driver’s license and an open alcoholic beverage container inside the vehicle.
Ayers was charged with third- and fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, two counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, aggravated unlicensed operation, unlicensed operation, and open container.
She was taken to the Ontario County Jail and arraigned Thursday morning.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
