Canandaigua Man Arrested on Burglary Charge in Penn Yan

A Canandaigua man has been arrested on a burglary charge in the village of Penn Yan.

It was reported to police on April 9th that 40-year-old Ryan Crane broke into the home of the victim by climbing through a window and then subjecting the person to unwanted physical contact. It is also alleged that during the altercation, Crane broke the victim’s cell phone when they attempted to call 9-1-1. Crane was later located by State Police and turned over to Penn Yan authorities and was additionally charged with harassment, unlawful imprisonment, and two counts of criminal mischief.

Following his arrest, Crane was brought to the Yates County Jail to await arraignment to obtain an Order of Protection.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
