A Canandaigua man has been arrested on a charge of promoting prison contraband following an investigation at the Ontario County Jail.
James Murray was allegedly found to have knowingly introduced contraband to the jail facility in the form of a small bag containing a white powdery substance. The substance later field-tested positive for cocaine.
Murray will return to Hopewell Town Court at a later date to answer the charge.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
