On Wednesday, Ontario County Deputies arrested a Canandaigua man following a violent disturbance at the Cedar Lodge in Hopewell.

At approximately 8:15 a.m., deputies took Dontae Cobb, 21, into custody. According to investigators, Cobb allegedly punched a door at the facility, causing $997.00 in damage to both the door frame and the locking mechanism. Authorities noted that the incident occurred in the presence of two children.

Cobb is charged with Criminal Mischief in the Third Degree and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. He was transported to the Ontario County Jail for centralized arraignment processing and was later released.

As a result of the arrest, Cobb was served a full stay-away order of protection. He is scheduled to appear in Hopewell Town Court at a later date to answer the charges.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
