Canandaigua Man Arrested After Early Morning Disturbance at Super 8

SHARE NOW

A Canandaigua man is facing charges after deputies say he caused a disturbance at a local motel early Friday morning.

The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office says 34-year-old Michael Phillips was taken into custody around 2 a.m. at the Super 8 on Routes 5 and 20. Investigators say Phillips was harassing other guests by banging on their doors, and at one point, kicked a door into another room. Deputies say the incident happened in front of two children who were inside the room.

Phillips was charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child and one count of second-degree harassment.

He was issued an appearance ticket and is due in Canandaigua Town Court at a later date.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
