A Canandaigua man is facing charges after police say he assaulted an officer while being treated at the hospital.
According to the Canandaigua Police Department, 36-year-old Paul J. Soltis was arrested on **October 10 around 1:08 p.m. for Harassment in the Second Degree following a report of an intoxicated person on Lakeshore Drive.
When officers arrived, they found Soltis in what they described as a “highly intoxicated state.” Because he was unable to care for himself, police transported him to Thompson Hospital for evaluation.
While at the hospital, police say Soltis became erratic and headbutted an officer. He was subsequently placed under arrest and issued an appearance ticket to appear in Canandaigua City Court at a later date.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
