The Canandaigua Police Department reports the arrest of 34-year-old Benton Powers of Canandaigua on multiple weapons charges.
Authorities say Powers, a convicted felon, was taken into custody on August 14 and charged with five counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree and three counts in the second degree. Powers is alleged to have had numerous firearms and shotguns that, as a convicted felon, he is not allowed to have.
He was processed and transported to CAP arraignment at the Ontario County Jail.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
